Growing up in the mountains of North Georgia, I could have never seen the crazy twists and turns that would lead me to study Chinese Medicine. Today, I am happy to be the owner and operator of Acupuncture Arts of Oconee.
In 1993, I received my Bachelor of Business degree in finance from The University of Georgia. During that time, I met my husband, best friend, and partner, Carl. We have filled our home with four wonderful children, two pups, a cat, the oldest bunny in the world, and a turtle. We share a love for hiking, backpacking, organic gardening, and Jesus.
Eleven years ago, I began my study of Iyengar Yoga, which continues to this day. The study of yoga revealed to me the innate power of the body to heal. As an instructor, I witnessed many students overcome their physical challenges by choosing to pursue health and equinimity within their lives. This was my first exposure to Eastern philosophy, and I quickly recognized that there is much more to healing than pharmaceuticals and surgery.
I received my Master's Degree in Acupuncture from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine, located in Sugar Grove, North Carolina. Jung Tao's commitment to the transmission, preservation, and purity of Classical Chinese Medicine is inspiring. The late Dr. Sean Marshall, Founder of Jung Tao, created a model of instruction that comes very close to the apprenticeship model originally used to transmit the knowledge of Chinese Medicine. I feel fortunate to have not only learned this medicine, but been transformed by it, at Jung Tao School.
As I continue my education in Classical Chinese Medicine, I study with kind and gracious teachers such as the late Dr. Edward Garbacz and Dr. Tran Viet Dzung. They have added exponentially to my understanding and enjoyment of Classical Chinese Medicine.
Post graduate coursework includes:
